Society of Composers Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit student organization which has been collaborating with the UM composition department since 1997.  Our goal is to consistently and effectively motivate and aid students in creating powerful and original musical works in any genre.  To do this, SCI supplies all composers of University of Miami with a venue and an audience, and it is the only on-campus method in which daring student works can be heard outside of their academic requirements.  We constantly introduce new and exciting themed concerts in which students fine-tune their composition and performance skills.  In preparing for our concerts, they learn and experience what exactly it takes to put on a concert from composing a piece, to finding the performers, to rehearsing, and finally to performing.  These are the necessary steps which our members commit to amidst UM’s demanding curriculum and the distractions of college life.

 

All donations of any amount are tax deductible and highly appreciated.  This money will go towards creating and developing more opportunities and an even more diverse annual concert series in the future.  Mail-in donations can be mailed to the address on the contacts page.
